Grand Canyon Helicopter

Many people who tour the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona visit the South Rim.  It is here where most of the buildings are located and most of the tourism industry thrives.  There are many different ways that you can tour the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.  Touring the Grand Canyon by helicopter is an economical and fun way to see this marvelous natural wonder.

The Grand Canyon was created over six million years ago by the Colorado River.  The gigantic gorge is 277 miles long and 18 miles wide in some places.  Millions of years of water and erosion have left some colorful and jagged rocks throughout the canyon.  Because of the scenery, the Grand Canyon National Park is one of the top sightseeing tourist destinations in the United States.

While many people enjoy the beauty of touring the Grand Canyon on foot, this type of exercise is not for everyone.  Touring on foot is not possible for those who are unable to hike long distances.  The only other way to get to the valley of the canyon is by mule.  That is not for everyone, either.

Touring the Grand Canyon by helicopter offers you the option of seeing the magnificent sights all within a matter of hours, without risking heat exhaustion or breathing problems by trying to hike into the valley of the canyon on foot.  If you want to make the most of your time at the Grand Canyon National Park, you will want to tour the park by helicopter.

At the South Rim, there are many different buildings that you will want to explore during your tour.  In addition to seeing the panoramic wonder of the canyon, you will also be able to visit the South Rim, take photographs and explore the buildings.  One of the most popular buildings at the south Rim is the Desert View Watchtower that gives you an awesome view of the canyon.

Many of the buildings that are located in the South Rim are devoted to Native American culture.  The Hopi Indians made the valley of the Grand Canyon their home and their culture is reflected in Hopi House which was built in 1905.  Most of the buildings that are located in the South Rim of the Grand Canyon were built at the early part of the twentieth century, just around the time when the area became a national park.

In addition to touring the Grand Canyon by helicopter and seeing the beauty of this natural wonder, you will get to visit some of the century old buildings that are ;located on the Southern Rim of the canyon during your tour if you so choose.  You can also take some time to purchase some interesting and unique souvenirs. 

The Grand Canyon is a destination well worth touring.  There is no sight in the United States that is more awesome than this large natural park.
